Located near the Mississippi River just outside of Quincy, IL, our family specializes in home grown fresh kernel popcorn for gourmet popcorn shops, grocery stores, specialty shops, veteran organizations, and Federal contracted sales as well as online retail and wholesale sales. We are the area’s oldest grower of produce and agriculture products with seven generations of experience.
This allows our customers to know that sustainable agriculture is one of our key commitments.
Our name comes from our love of our past & present Catahoula Leopard Dogs. So, what is a Catahoula? Well they are loyal, independent and watchful. The word Catahoula is of Choctaw origin and is translated to mean “sacred lake.” Catahoula are the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana. Also, called the Catahoula Hog Dog, they are used as stock dogs, bay dogs, tree dogs, watchdogs, guard dogs, and of course as loyal companions.
Fully recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs along with the Illinois Department of Agriculture as a veteran owned business it is with pride that the Homegrown by Heroes label will be applied to our entire line of products.
“The Homegrown by Heroes program allows Illinois farmers, ranchers, fishermen and producers who have served or are still serving in any branch of the U.S. military to use a special logo on agricultural products they grew and sell to the public.”
Over a year ago while we started to grow our first gourmet popcorn we lost our best friend here at the farm Blue the Catahoula in an unfortunate accident. As we developed different logos for our new business one thing that we keep going back to was old Blue so in tribute to him Catahoula Blue was born. We now have a new generation of Catahoula his name is Rascal his likeness is proudly displayed on all our products. We hope you enjoy our popcorn as much we enjoy our Catahoula’s.
